Lauren Parker Jackson (CV)
Assistant Professor of Biological Sciences & Biochemistry

Lauren completed her Ph.D. at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology and Trinity College, Cambridge, UK. She then worked as a consultant for the Boston Consulting Group in London before joining David Owen's lab in Cambridge for postdoctoral work. When not in the lab, Lauren enjoys sports (CrossFit, swimming), music, wine tasting, and spending time with her two children, husband, and huge Southern family.

Amy Kendall is our lab manager. She holds a Master's degree and 15+ years of experience at Vanderbilt. Amy's expertise lies in protein expression and purification, as well as structural methods, including X-ray crystallography and electron microscopy. Amy is currently pioneering single particle cryoEM in the lab.

Dr. John Gadbery is a postdoc working on vesicle coat cargo and regulatory interactions. He completed in Ph.D. at Stony Brook University in 2018.

Dr. Mintu Chandra is a postdoc working on endosomal coat assembly. He completed his Ph.D. in structural biology & biophysics at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) followed by a postdoc with Brett Collins at the IMB (Queensland).

Betty Xie is a graduate student working on the regulation of the COPI coat using a variety of biochemical, biophysical, structural, and yeast genetic techniques.
Picture
Natalie Wallace is a graduate student focusing on the roles of coat proteins in neurons. She will explore cargoes and binding partners for the AP4 and AP5 coats.

Carli Needle is an undergraduate student researcher from the Washington, D.C. area, majoring in Neuroscience.  She will focus on examining the basic biological functions of AP4 coats to better understand the autophagy links and neuronal phenotypes. Outside of the lab, Carli teaches interactive science lessons to middle school students through VSVS; tutors and mentors at-risk youth through Synergy; competes on the Vanderbilt club tennis team; serves as a Dore for a Day host; and also loves to sing, play piano, hike, explore new restaurants in Nashville, and spend time with friends.
